MNFR is a catchment forest with beautiful hydrological features whereby most of the towns in highlands and lowland areas of the Usambara Mountains use its water for domestic, agriculture and industrial uses. Hydrological features found inside the reserve include small dams, waterfalls, rivers, water streams. Grewal dam is a perfect place for canoeing, boating and fishing activities.
